We have enjoyed our family cottage privately for over 40 years, and now it’s in the process of being slowly restored and renovated. It may be a little rough around the edges, but we’re happy to share it with kind guests.
Between the lengthy enclosed patio at the front and the recently painted deck in the back, there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors in comfort at our family cottage.
The entire living space of the cottage is available to guests. There are three rooms with 6 beds between them, a full bath, a combined living and dining room, combined kitchen and utility room, an enclosed patio partially wrapping around the house, and a cozy deck around back.
Lakeside Chautauqua passes, in season
From Memorial Day through Labor Day the cottage sits inside a gated community, and every guest needs a Chautauqua pass to reach it. Passes are bought separately, online or at a booth at any entrance gate — we have no way to buy them for you, and our rates don’t include them. An Auto Pass is required for each vehicle as well. Outside that season you don’t need a pass to get to the cottage, and there’s nothing extra to buy. The trade-off is that Lakeside’s public amenities are closed for the year.
- A standard pass covers the pool, wellness and fitness centre, shuffleboard, tennis and pickleball, lake swimming, concerts, lectures and worship services
- Children under 5 get in free, and there are reduced rates for ages 6 to 21
- Each vehicle needs its own daily Auto Pass; the price depends on which lot you use

- 5.No smoking, and no parties or events
- 6.We have been notified that no fires are permitted on the property, even on the concrete pad, because it is too close to nearby structures under Danbury Township fire code
- 7.Quiet hours across Lakeside run 11pm to 8am, and to noon on Sundays

Before you head home
- 1.Wash any dishes you’ve used and gather used towels
- 2.Close all windows, turn things off, and lock up
- 3.Return the patio furniture to where you found it
- 4.Take trash to the cans behind the shed — never leave bags outside, because of raccoons
- 5.If you plan to stay in Lakeside after your checkout, plan somewhere else to park so the cleaning crew can use the spaces in front of the cottage — they often arrive right after checkout

Rates are an estimate and move with demand; a reservation locks its price in, and is fully refundable until four weeks before check-in, then 50%. Full terms.
In season, Lakeside Chautauqua gate passes are bought separately and aren’t included; out of season no pass is needed.
